THE TANKS
STUDIO V spearheaded this dynamic collaboration with environmental lawyers, engineers, landscape architects, and lighting designers to craft a visionary and actionable design for a waterfront park at Bushwick Inlet Park, where Williamsburg and Greenpoint converge in Brooklyn.
Dubbed The Tanks at Bushwick Inlet Park, this project proposed the transformation of a cluster of obsolete oil tanks into a vibrant centerpiece of the neighborhood’s park revitalization. Rather than being dismantled and discarded, these industrial relics are reimagined as gardens, performance spaces, and art galleries, celebrating Brooklyn's industrial heritage while serving contemporary community needs.
The design offers a fresh perspective on site remediation, blending the past and present by preserving the industrial character of the tanks while providing modern amenities. Maker Park embodies a vision of how a 21st-century public space can honor Brooklyn’s manufacturing legacy, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation that defines the area’s current identity.
